Indications:
Extravenal is a medicine containing dry extract of valerian and phenobarbital.
It is used only in adults, in the short-term treatment of:
- mild sleep disorders, due to the content of dry extract of valerian,
- minor anxiety disorders,
- nervous hyperexcitability.
Phenobarbital is not indicated in the treatment of insomnia.
If you do not feel better or feel worse, you should consult a doctor.
 
Contraindications:
Do not use Extraveral:
- if you are allergic to dry extract of valerian, phenobarbital, other barbiturates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
 
Precautions:
Before using Extraveral, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
 
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Extraveral can cause birth defects, especially of the mouth (cleft palate) and heart (cardiovascular abnormalities). It also lowers the levels of folic acid in the blood.
Extraveral should not be taken during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
 
Driving and using machines:
Do not drive or use machines, as Extraveral may cause disturbances incompatible with the ability to drive or use machines.
 
How to take:
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
 
Extraveral tablets should be swallowed with enough liquid.
Adults:
In states of nervousness and anxiety: the recommended dose is one tablet 3 times a day, before meals.
In sleep disorders: the recommended dose is 1-2 tablets in the evening, before bedtime.
The treatment should not exceed 2 weeks, due to the possibility of a decrease in the effectiveness of the drug after this period.
 
Elderly or patients with chronic alcoholism:
It is recommended to reduce the doses administered to elderly patients or those with chronic alcoholism.
 
Patients with impaired liver or kidney function (hepatic failure or renal failure):
It is recommended to reduce the doses administered to patients with impaired liver or kidney function (renal failure or hepatic failure).

Composition:
- The active substances are dry extract of valerian, phenobarbital. Each tablet contains dry valerian extract (minimum 0.42% sesquiterpenic acids expressed as valerenic acid) 80 mg and phenobarbital 20 mg.
- The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, Starlac (contains 85% lactose monohydrate and 15% corn starch), corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate
